The resolve
Imagine the freedom
the happiness ensued
When the expectations
of the surrounding culture
Have no power over you
When societal standards
no longer induce torment
When the eyes of others
Are no longer important
Imagine the freedom,
the happiness ensued
By defining self-image
with a new set of rules
The generic societal standards
you would elude
By not complying with them,
you would escape the abuse
Of hating yourself
because Of them
Because who are they
Why do they matter
Why do they choose
Your emotions
Your grief
Your self image
The relief from which
only comes from one place
One
small
often
overlooked
place
You see
Relief is only ever grasped
Through paradigm shifts
turning the looking glass
to the oft forgot antipole
Shifting priorities
To discover your own soul
For their view is obstructed
only you see the whole
while inquiring inward
in pursuit of yourself
When that pursuit is achieved
I can only imagine
the freedom,
the happiness
That is then
And only then
ensued
